Scale Models

I've been interested in scale models since collecting Dinky vehicles and Lesney's Matchbox toys as a child, but as an adult have become aware of the limitations of these toys as representations of the real thing. My quest to obtain some three dimensional substitute for some of the things I'd like in reality, but cannot afford (or have space for), extends to building a twelfth scale 'Georgian' style doll's house, furnishing it, and also to collecting good quality handbuilt forty-third scale cars, mainly of the 1940's and 1950's.

The House

View of the front. The three front sections hinge out and the roof lifts off. The style is similar to a Lutyens version of a Georgian style house, complete with false archways containing mirrors to give the appearance of openings to another room (as in Castle Drogo).

The hallway.

The dining room table, laid for afternoon tea.

The master bedroom.

The kitchen, small, but packed. The boxed-in section on the left is going to be a 'dumb waiter' (a small lift) to the dining room above.

Drawing room complete with easel and painting materials.

The Cars

Lansdowne (Brooklin) Triumph Renown and Pathfinder Humber Hawk

Austin Atlantic by Minimarque, Allard P1 from a french resin kit and other fifties cars.

Pathfinder Daimler Conquest Century

Early Morris Minor 'lowlight', Morris Oxford and Morris Eight.
